Fly fishing women! Experience the beauty of one of Colorado's oldest and finest guest ranches near Creede, Colorado. Renew yourself with a week-long trip of good fly fishing, striking scenery, gourmet food and the camaraderie of other women anglers. Our group has full use of the Ranch with miles of lovely private trout stream, hot springs spa, horseback riding and a friendly, attentive staff. It's the fun adventure escape you need.
Retreat or School?
Fly fishing is fun and our week is arranged to be welcoming for women who already fly fish and for those who want to learn.
For the more self-sufficient, our women's Retreat Program gives you all the amenities that the Ranch has to offer and the freedom to schedule your own days. Fish as much as you want, or enjoy a horseback ride or a soak in the hot tub. Enjoy meals at the lodge and evening activities with the whole group. And because everyone needs a little help, we'll happily provide brush-ups on casting, knot-tying or which flies you might want to use.
Our School is for those needing a more thorough, structured approach. Hands-on, women-only classes cover all the basics to help you become an independent fly fisher: casting, fly selection, wading safely, knot tying and (of course) playing, landing and releasing fish. Daily half-day instruction gives you the balance of the day to explore on your own. Fishing equipment provided as needed.
4UR Ranch 4UR Ranch has been a premier guest ranch since it's early days near the turn of the century and the fishing is superb. Seven miles of private catch-and-release water on Goose Creek, three private lakes, and a half-mile of the Rio Grande are carefully stewarded to provide good habitat for resident Cutthroat, Rainbow and Brown Trout.
First-rate dining with fresh entrees, appetizers and creative desserts in the lodge, comfortable private rooms, heated pool and a natural hot springs spa ensure a civilized evening. Instructors Karen Denison and Jan Crawford have been fly fishing and teaching women's classes for many years. They have been privileged to organize the fly fishing and tying classes for Becoming an Outdoors Woman in New Mexico, and are active in various fly fishing clubs such as the International Women's Fly Fishing Festival, New Mexico Trout and Trout Unlimited. Jan operated High Desert Angler in Santa Fe, NM for 15 years and Karen is co-author of Fly Patterns for Northern New Mexico. Both are Federation of Fly Fishers certified casting instructors.
Rates
Both rates include all meals, lodging and gratuity, fishing access, horseback riding and optional sporting clays shooting. Beer, wine and bar drinks are available for modest additional charges.
